Our Story

Welcome to the Sweet P Family. Sit and Sip a While.

My husband and I have always dreamed of becoming entrepreneurs. We have always had a strong work ethic and an addiction to shopping. I remember spending weekends in college buying mounds of items for our “future home” that later ended up in storage at my grandparent’s house. Never knowing how to pursue our dreams, my husband and I put everything on hold and concentrated on our careers as agricultural educators. After the birth of our second child in September 2017, we decided that our lives were too crazy trying to juggle two small children, a poultry farm operation and each of our demanding teaching careers- we knew it was time for a change. After the passing of my father-in-law, Henry, in February 2015, my husband and I were blessed to receive the benefits of his many years of hard work and humble lifestyle. As a tribute to him, we decided to wipe the dust off of our dreams and pray that the Lord would show us the way to make all of our big ideas become reality. In May 2018, the idea of Sweet P General was born.

In our small town, most properties have been passed down through the years and kept in the family. Over time, my father expanded our family farm by purchasing land from other family members that bordered our original farm. Attached to this land, was an old, abandoned gas station.  After praying for our dreams to become a reality, an opportunity for us to purchase that old gas station at an unfathomable price presented itself. We could not believe how fast things were happening and took this opportunity as our sign from God that it was our time to pursue this dream. We never thought that one day we would open our own store and certainly not on the same land that my family had been farming for generations.

After five months of hard work and lots of love, Sweet P General opened on October 13, 2018. Since then, we have been overwhelmed by the amount of love and support that has been shown to us by our ever-growing customer base. We have big plans and with God’s grace and guidance, we are continuing to grow and add new ventures to the Sweet P name. We hope that you will take the time to stop by and visit our shop or website to find that perfect piece (…or pieces) for your closet, your home, or your life.

And … just in case you are wondering – I married my best friend from college in April 2014. Waylon and I have two baby girls who keep us on our toes. I have a serious problem (some may call it an addiction) when it comes to home décor and redecorating, it’s my version of therapy. I love shopping for new clothes, southern sweet tea, dressing our girls in the sweetest smocked outfits (matching, of course), Clemson (where I met my husband), spending part of our summers on the gulf coast, making memories on our family farm, and sleeping in, which never happens these days.

I would love to hear from you! Please don’t hesitate to reach out and share your positive thoughts or ask questions.
